Hank has been painting since the mid
1980’s. He has attended selected classes at Pacific Northwest College of
Art and Marylhurst University in Portland, as well as numerous painting
workshops conducted by nationally renowned artists. His awards in local
art society shows include six first place ribbons and a Best of Show
award in the 2001 Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts. He is a signature
member of the Northwest Watercolor Society (indicated by the NWWS
after his name) and has earned active (juried) memberships in two other
northwest societies. He is currently represented by three galleries in
Oregon and Washington. His enduring fascination with painting has led
him to experiment with various content areas and styles and lately to
express his sense of humor in more of his work. His favorite subjects
tend to be landscape and cityscape for which inspiration abounds in the
magnificent Columbia River Gorge as well as in the picturesque
neighborhoods around rainy Portland. His appreciation for the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest is reflected in his energetic
painting style. Hank also maintains a private practice as a
clinical psychologist in Vancouver, Washington. He joined Gallery 21 for
the benefits of personal and artistic growth which come from cooperative
association with other artists.
