Welcome to Artists’ Gallery 21

 

Gallery 21 is a non profit organization with a mission to encourage, promote and showcase fine art and craft

Responsibilities

  • All members are active and responsible for a portion of gallery staffing and management.

  •  Members work 4 sessions in a work calendar.

  • Our business meeting is first Thursday of the month from 9:30 to 11:30

  • We serve on quarterly rotating committees: hanging the gallery, receptions (set up, food or closing), housekeeping, grant writing, marketing, and jurying new members and consignees.

  • Members are encouraged/expected to be “featured artist” each 18 months and are responsible for the advertising postcards, printing, postage and preparing for mailing. The gallery provides the labels.

  • A monthly $70 hanging fee is assessed.

  • Members are expected to continuously produce new work and to keep all work up to professional standards.

Application for membership:

  • Name, address, phone number, email address
  • A statement of why you want to join Gallery 21 including your acknowledgement and acceptance of the responsibilities of this non-profit, cooperative.
  • A complete resume/bio
  • Artist’s statement/professional goals
  • 15 slides, jpgs, or actual works
  • An interview with the Membership Committee, including some actual work

  • The Membership committee presents their recommendation to the first Thursday meeting for a vote.
  • Following acceptance into the gallery, there is a three month probation period. At the end of the probation you and we decide if this will be a good working relationship.

 MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT
 

Gallery 21 is a non-profit, artist owned organization with a mission to encourage, promote and showcase fine art and crafts. All members are responsible for operating Gallery 21 as a business, participating equally in staffing and management, and provide representation of all artists’ work to customers.

I understand membership is available on a vacancy basis as determined by the membership. Along with this application, I am submitting a statement of why I want to join Gallery 21, including acknowledgement and acceptance of the responsibilities of this non-profit cooperative, a resume/bio, an artists statement/professional goals, and five (5) slides, jpgs, or actual works.

I understand that if my work is juried and accepted by the membership, I will be given provisional membership for three months. As a provisional member, I will pay a hanging fee of $70 per month, exhibit 2 of my works, receive 75% of my works sold, and train and work 4 sessions in a work calendar in the gallery with a regular member, and serve on rotating committees. At the end of the probation period, I may apply for permanent membership. At that time gallery and I will decide if this will be a good working relationship.

I understand that if I am selected for membership, I will be expected to attend the business meeting on the first Thursday of each month, work four (4) sessions during a work calendar, and serve on quarterly rotating committees. As a member, I will have the opportunity to hang two paintings each month, and be featured artist at least once every 18 months. Additionally, I will receive 75% of the sale price of any of my sold art work. The monthly hanging fee of $70.00 will be due by the monthly meeting.


APPLICATION FOR PROVISIONAL MEMBERSHIP

I, _________________________________________ hereby make application for Provisional Membership status in Van Arts Guild, doing business as Artist Gallery 21.  If accepted for Provisional Membership, my affiliation will start immediately.  I have read the above terms of membership and agree to abide by them.  I understand that the Provisional Membership is for a three (3) month period after which I may apply for Permanent Membership.
